Ian Evatt says he would be 'amazed' if Dennis Politic features for Bolton Wanderers on a matchday this season but thinks he will be back in full training before the end of the campaign.
The 20-year-old midfielder was ruled out for the season after picking up a serious knee injury against Loughborough University over the summer before the campaign started.
There has been positive steps on his road to recovery after Evatt revealed the Romanian is now back training on the grass at Lostock.
But Evatt has talked down the possibility of Politic potentially making an appearance for Wanderers before the League Two season ends.
However, Evatt expects Politic to be back in full training before this campaign ends, with a view to ensuring he will be able to hit the ground running in 2021/22 with a full pre-season under his belt.
And Evatt has been impressed with Politic's attitude during his period of rehabilitation from his serious injury.
Evatt said: “I would be amazed if he features in the actual matchday team this season. I think we have to do what’s right for the player and give him the best chance of recovery.
"Will he be back in full training before the end of the season? Probably. But it’s more of a process of building him back up for the start of pre-season to make sure and make sure he gets a full pre-season next season and he can hit the ground running.
"He’s doing great. I must say his work ethic and his attitude to rehab has been top class for a young player."
