Ian Evatt gives Kyle Dempsey transfer latest and confirms fresh Bolton Wanderers incoming stance

Bolton Wanderers are hoping to make two new signings before the January transfer window closes, Ian Evatt has confirmed.

Wanderers have made five new acquisitions in January so far with the permanent signings of forwards Dion Charles and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, as well as midfielder Aaron Morley.

This has been supplemented by the loan signings of James Trafford and Marlon Fossey.

Wanderers are seeking to add Gillingham captain Kyle Dempsey to their ranks before the end of the window and have a bid with the Kent side.

Bolton had sought to make one more signing, but Evatt has confirmed a change in that plan and that two signings are being sought.

Should Dempsey not come to pass, then Wanderers will look to the loan market to add to their midfield, as well as make another acqusition.

And though progress is being made on that front and Evatt hopes they will get done prior to Monday's transfer deadline day, time will tell.

He said: "There is progress but it is slow. We are working really hard, potentially on two more.

“It is progressing slowly, but definitely progressing, and I would hope there will be a couple more in the building by the end of the deadline.

“Of course, there’s a timescale (with Dempsey), there’s the end of the window.

“There will come a stage where we say enough is enough and that we will leave it, potentially take a loan and then revisit in the summer, which might save us a lot of money.

“But we think we have been more than reasonable and we will see how it progresses.

“I don’t think they will be late ones, I’d hope they get done prior to deadline day. I certainly hope so. But we will see."
