Ian Evatt gives Bolton Wanderers transfer window update and has say on future ins and outs

Ian Evatt believes Bolton Wanderers have managed to acquire the vast majority of their number one transfer targets so far this summer and that the squad is now more or less complete with exits on the horizon.

Wanderers have been busy in the summer transfer market with several additions made to the squad as reinforcements.

The loanees of last season in the form of Oladapo Afolayan and Declan John have been turned into permanent signings this summer, both penning three-year contracts with Bolton after their deals at West Ham United and Swansea City respectively expired.

Central defender George Johnston and central midfielder Josh Sheehan have joined from Feyenoord and Newport County respectively.

Further reinforcements have also been added in the form of ex-Barrow goalkeeper Joel Dixon, former Plymouth Argyle defender Will Aimson and forward Amadou Bakayoko after his time at Coventry City came to an end.

Former Arsenal winger Xavier Amaechi has also joined Bolton on a six-month loan deal from German side Hamburg.

With signings made in time for the start of pre-season training, Evatt believes the squad is now complete and only envisages further transfer incomings if other players leave the University of Bolton Stadium this summer.

And the Wanderers boss feels being able to acquire most of their number one targets is testament to the hard work which has taken place this summer.

He said: “I don’t think the method of recruitment has altered, I just think we identified where we needed to improve and what areas of the pitch we needed to improve on, what those players look like and then gone out and got them and got them quickly.

"From the minute Chris Markham came in, we were sat once or twice a week for hours on end watching footage, watching players, doing reports on players and making lists and shortlists.

"Lots of hard work has gone into our recruitment and we had identified our targets pretty early on and I’ve got to say, we’ve primarily got our number one targets and that’s thanks to the board for allowing us to do it and backing us and now we’re ready to go and kick on.

"Our squad is complete. There are going to be exits and with exits, there might be one or two more coming in, but for now, we’re really happy with where we’re at."
