Ian Durrant has warned Ally McCoist there’s a new guv’nor on the block as he looks to help steer his old Rangers pal’s hometown team into the big time.
Durrant was unveiled as part of East Kilbride ’s new management team alongside Stevie and Chris Aitken at the weekend.
And he revealed how his old Ibrox pal McCoist - East Kilbride’s most famous footballing son - was the first to call after learning of his move.
“Coisty was straight on the phone - I’ve told him there’s a new guv’nor of East Kilbride,” Durrant told EKFCTV.
“But he is obviously East Kilbride through and through and he was over the moon when I told him we are going in.
“Coisty knows the pitfalls and what we have to produce. He is 100 per cent behind us and will be here and support us.
“I just don’t want him to come up at 56 and ask for a game!
“We are going to get great backing. Everything at this club is geared towards doing well.
“I just can’t wait to get started with Stevie and the boys.”
Aitken and Durrant want to drag EK out of the Lowland League and into the SPFL after being won over by the ambition of the club.
“The club want to go where they have never been before,” said Durrant. “They want to go up the leagues.
“There’s a buzz about the club and with the proper recruitment I’m sure we can build a team that can go and challenge for everything.”
