Ian Burchnall names Notts County team to face Torquay United as key man returns

Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall made four changes to his side as he went in search of a win against Torquay United this afternoon.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Luke Steele was handed his debut after signing in midweek as he replaced the injured Sam Slocombe who has a groin problem.

Captain Michael Doyle also made his long-awaited return to the centre of midfield after a calf injury, while defender Mark Ellis and midfielder Jim O'Brien were also restored to the starting 11.

The players who had to make way were Ben Turner, Regan Griffiths and Lewis Knight.

After playing a 3-4-3 formation, head coach Burchnall changed his formation to 3-5-2 with Steele in goal behind the back three of Connell Rawlinson, Alex Lacey and Ellis.

The wing-back responsibilities fell to Dion Kelly-Evans and Adam Chicksen, while the centre of midfield roles were filled by Doyle, O'Brien and Jake Reeves.

Up front, Kyle Wootton partnered Jimmy Knowles.

On the subs bench were Calvin Miller, Enzio Boldewijn, Luke Pilling, Griffiths and Knight.

Notts: Steele; Lacey, Rawlinson, Ellis; Kelly-Evans, Doyle, O'Brien, Reeves, Chicksen; Wootton and Knowles.
