Ian Burchnall gives transfer update as Notts County step up signing search

Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall is hopeful of wrapping up a move for a striker next week as he looks to add further depth to his attack.

The Magpies head coach has been eager to bolster his frontline in a bid to give Kyle Wootton support with another target man believed to be on the agenda.

Notts had looked at Andre Wright on trial as a potential option, but he was absent from the side which lost 2-0 to Derby County on Sunday.

The Magpies have decided to look elsewhere and Burchnall is confident of wrapping up a deal before next Saturday's clash against York City.

"We are working hard and probably by this time next week we can hope for another addition," he said.

"We are getting much closer to where we need to be. The player we are hoping to bring in is an attacking option.

"If he scores then we will call him a striker. We've been really patient in the market. It's been quite strange this year with everything off the back of Covid.

"But we've taken our time and are really close now."
