Ian Baraclough future to be resolved 'in the coming weeks' says IFA president Conrad Kirkwood

Irish FA president Conrad Kirkwood says Ian Baraclough's future as Northern Ireland manager will be "resolved in the coming weeks".

Baraclough's current deal expires at the end of the World Cup qualifiers next month.

Northern Ireland host Lithuania and Italy in their final two games, but are already out of contention for Qatar 2022 following Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat to Bulgaria.

Baraclough -who has won just four of his 18 games - came in for criticism following the second-half collapse in Sofia, raising doubts over his future beyond the current qualifying campaign.

Kirkwood said yesterday: "We are now very much focused on the next game which is Lithuania at home. That's the important thing.

"We are focused on that and getting points from that game.

"With regards to Ian, obviously it is important for us to resolve that matter in the coming weeks.

"That will be a board decision and we will work on that.

"We are looking forward to the final two games, obviously the second one (against Italy) will be a hugely attractive one. And the Lithuania one will be exciting too.

"They are coming off a good result in their campaign, and we are looking forward to Windsor Park bouncing."
