Iain Dale mocked by GMB guest Jacqui Smith over infamously storming off show

Jacqui Smith took aim at fellow guest Iain Dale over his storming off Good Morning Britain today.

The former Home Secretary and Strictly Come Dancing star, 58, made the wry remark on the ITV show after she suffered technical issues of her own.

Jacqui's connection had been disrupted, meaning that hosts Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh had been unable to speak to her.

But when she returned, Jacqui quipped: "Can I say that I'm glad that I'm back with you - I didn't storm off in an Iain Dale sort of way. It was a WiFi problem."

Iain gasped as she said: "Sorry Iain!"

Last year, Iain stormed off the ITV programme during mid-interview while debating on cuts to children's mental health services.

The LBC radio presenter and right-wing commentator had stormed off set despite Kate Garraway and Ben begging him to stay while they had been speaking about the teenage attacker of a six-year-old boy who was thrown from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern.

Economics commentator Grace Blakeley had blasted government cuts in children's mental health services and the Tory policy of austerity, which Iain branded "utter, utter rubbish".

As he became involved in a row with Grace, Iain muttered "ridiculous: and stood up and removed his microphone.

"No, no, no, Iain, don't go," begged Ben.

Iain later took to Twitter to blast the ITV show, insisting he was being "closed down", although he apologised to the hosts for his behaviour.

"I enjoy my early mornings on @GMB with @Jacqui_Smith1 because they’re all about civilised discussion. Today’s was not. It was about closing me down," he wrote.

"I decided it wasn't worth hanging around. Apologies to @kategarraway, @benshephard & @CharlotteHawkns but enough is enough."
