Three Northern Ireland athletes are counting down the days to the IAAF World Athletics Championships.

The major competition takes place in Doha and runs from Saturday, September 28 to Sunday, October 6.

Over 1900 athletes will be competing from 209 different teams, with seven confirmed to represent Ireland, including three from Ulster.

Finn Valley AC’s Brendan Boyce, City of Lisburn AC’s Ciara Mageean and Clonliffe Harriers’ Stephen Scullion will all be in action over the next fortnight.

First on the Road to Doha will be Boyce in the 50k Walk on Saturday, September 28 at 9.30pm (All times given are UK times).

Boyce will compete in a field of 47 athletes from across 26 countries.

The final event for our Northern Ireland and Ulster athletes will be the Men’s Marathon on Saturday, October 5 at 9.59pm which will see Clonliffe Harrier’s Scullion (PB: 2:14.34) take to the road.
