'I wouldn't have gone'- Revealing Nottingham Forest January transfer claim made

Nottingham Forest striker Nuno da Costa has revealed why he made the move to the City Ground in January.

The Cape Verde international swapped Strasbourg and the French top tier for Forest and a chance to help Sabri Lamouchi's side to promotion.

Da Costa made 14 appearances in the French top tier before moving to the City Ground toward the end of the January transfer window.

He had been afforded just four starts in the League at Strasbourg, the 29-year-old seeing his participation limited in the second half of the campaign.

Since moving to Forest, he has managed just 20 minutes of Championship action in eight matches before coronavirus shut the League down.

Da Costa needed to get up to speed for Lamouchi to use him more, but the Covid-19 pandemic intervened to deny him a chance to properly get his Forest career up and running.

"I think it was interesting for me," da Costa told French outlet Chronos via Sport Witness.

"I’m 29, I didn't have the game time I wanted at Strasbourg, and I got this phone call from Nottingham and the manager convinced me to believe in that project, and I think we can do nice things.

"If I didn't see the point, I wouldn't have gone.

"Considering the club was in a good spot to go up, and it still is in the playoffs, I think that and the fact the manager guaranteed me game time and that I'd be happy, I accepted."
