'I would be very interested' - Bristol Rovers legend Ian Holloway open to Scottish job

Bristol Rovers legend Ian Holloway has revealed he’s keen to be the next Kilmarnock manager “without a shadow of a doubt”.

The Scottish side has been without a manager since Steve Clarke departed to head the national team, with Holloway the latest in a long line of managers to be linked with the post.

The 56-year-old from Kingswood left QPR in May last year, and has occupied himself as a pundit for Sky Sports and Talksport in the meantime.

During this period, he has been linked with a variety of vacancies, including the posts at Wallsall, Plymouth Argyle and Bristol Rovers last year.

Regarding this latest role, he told The Scottish Sun: “I would be very interested in the Kilmarnock job.

"I’m looking to get back into the game and Scottish football is appealing for any manager.”

He went on to say that he’s “always loved Scottish football”, revealing that he has three Scottish grandparents and was interested in playing in the Scottish league during his time as a midfielder.

He’s expected to face stiff competition for the top spot at the oldest professional Scottish club, with owner Billy Bowie said to have received over 60 applications from across Europe, with interviews expected to occur in the near future.

The current odds-on favourite is Simon Grayson, one of Holloway’s predecessors at Blackpool, with Paddy Power giving odds of 3/10 at the time of writing, while he sits as a relative outsider on 40/1, behind familiar faces like former Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo (5/1) and former Rangers boss Ally McCoist (13/2).

The Daily Record also reports that he could face competition from Callum Scott, a local Sunday amateur team manager for the Grange Amateurs, who has been given odds of 100/1 by McBookie after winning the local league.
