Millie Bobby Brown has shocked fans as she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, recently announced that they have welcomed their first daughter through adoption. There’s been a wide range of reactions to the news online as some fans have embraced the news while others have struggled to process it.
Brown and Bongiovi announced the happy news through a post on Instagram. “This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption.” The post reads, “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.” Comments on the post were disabled but that didn’t stop fans from expressing their opinion elsewhere.
Millie’s fans express their shock
Many were shocked that the Stranger Things star had decided to adopt at such a young age. Millie Bobby Brown is 21 while Jake Bongiovi is 23. The pair seem to be speedrunning life at the moment as they got married in May of last year and now they’re starting a family. While it may have come as a surprise, people move at their own pace, some much faster than others.
On X one fan simply wrote, “she’s only 21.” Another explained why the news made them feel weird, writing: “Listen, I am TEAM ADOPTION. but I am not team Millie Bobby Brown and baby bonjovi adopting before their frontal lobes are developed.”
A third simply made a lighthearted joke about how the news made them feel old, sharing a popular gif to express the exact feeling we’re likely all feeling about now.

As with all celebrity news, some fans went overboard and asked more personal and possibly hurtful questions, some wanted to know why the couple had chosen to adopt rather than give birth to a child. Of course, it’s none of our business why Brown and Bongiovi chose to go down the route they chose.
Most fans were happy for the family
After getting over the initial shock it seems a majority of fans were happy to see Millie and her husband choosing to set a great example by adopting. One fan wrote, “I love that I wish more celebrities would adopt.” Another commended Millie for giving the child “a better life than they would’ve had.”
Plenty also came to the couple’s defense to call out the vocal minority that are criticizing the pair for adopting. One person claimed that the people criticizing Brown for adopting are “the same people who tell you to not abort and give kids for adoption.” There seems to be a lot of hypocrisy amongst the people who are criticizing Millie Bobby Brown but thankfully it doesn’t seem like any of it is phasing the actress and her family.
