I Wish I Had This Joanna Gaines Coat Rack Sooner – It’s a Hosting Must-Have That Can Save Your Bedroom From Becoming a Makeshift Coat Check

A back entryway mudroom with built-in shelving, several baskets for storage, a built-in bench, and a small table holding a lamp, flowers and picture frames to the left.

When I was a child, my bedroom always ended up becoming the designated coat check during holiday parties, for reasons my young mind could not quite comprehend. 'Go put their coats on your bed,' my mother would instruct me to do any time guests entered our home.

My bedroom was situated on the ground floor right near the back entrance, and at the time, we didn't have a proper mudroom in our small house. So in a way, it was the most logical spot to toss everyone's coats. But what we really needed at the time was a coat rack on which we could properly hang outerwear. One that would be strong enough to hold as many coats as needed, and stylish enough to look chic in our small entryway when bare.

What we needed was Joanna Gaines' Wood and Metal Coat Rack from Target.

When I first spotted this coat rack while browsing Target's website the other day, I let out an audible gasp and immediately sent the link to my mother along with a text that read, 'where was this when we needed it 15 years ago?'

From its cross-shaped flat base to its brass hooks, this coat rack is incredibly sturdy and effortlessly chic. It's a hosting must-have, a stylish entryway idea that will eliminate the inevitable 'coat check bedroom' that develops during the busy holiday hosting season.

What might look like an average coat rack most certainly is not. Since it was designed by modern farmhouse style extraordinaire Joanna Gaines, this coat rack is significantly more attractive than most styles with its warm acacia wood finish and its decorative brass hooks. Unlike other freestanding coat racks, this one is not nearly as flimsy or prone to tipping because of its clever cross base. What's more, it comes in at just under $100.

Whether you position it in your entryway to hold coats and jackets or in your bedroom to eliminate the eyesore of the 'chairdrobe' (or in my case, the bed-turned-coat graveyard), this wood and metal coat rack is sure to come in handy in your home – especially come holiday hosting season.

Shop Stylish Coat Racks

Since I couldn't stop at just one, I found a few more coat racks that can make your home more organized this fall and winter. So below, find three more styles that are sturdy, attractive, and in my opinion, worthy of a spot in your home.

A chic coat rack, stylish shoe storage, and perhaps a decorative umbrella holder... but what else looks good in an entryway? We asked interior designers to tell us exactly what these tricky spaces need in order to look stylish, and their answers might surprise you.
