'I wish him all the best' - Gonzalo Higuain comments on Eden Hazard to Real Madrid transfer rumours

Chelsea forward Gonzalo Higuain has said that Eden Hazard has not asked him about life in Spain's capital despite the rumours that he is set to join Real Madrid.

The 31-year-old played for Los Blancos from 2006 to 2013 and netted 121 goals in 264 appearances in his time there.

Hazard is being persistently linked to joining up with Zinedine Zidane and co, but has yet to make a decision on his future and is simply focusing on the end of the season with the Blues.

Higuain believes that his teammate is one of the best in the world and his own desires will dictate where his future lies.

The former Napoli forward told ESPN: "What can I tell you? Those are things that involve the club executives and the desire of the player.

"When a player has a desire, it is difficult to change his mind.

Eden Hazard explains why he broke the promise he made in 2018 against West Ham

"He is one of the best [in the world].  It is obvious that, when he is at this level, he gives you points, he gives you goals and the truth is that it is a great asset to have him with us.

"Here what matters is Eden's decision and the decision of the board. I cannot do anything. He has not asked me [about life in Madrid] but if it's what makes him happy, I wish him the best. I hope he can stay.

Hazard once again put in a virtuoso display against West Ham where he scored a brace. Following that performance Maurizio Sarri spoke about the Belgian's performance in his post match press conference.

He said: "From the technical point of view, no. Not at the moment. Also because it's impossible to find another Hazard. At the moment there isn't another Hazard, the level is so high.

"You'd have to find two players to make the level of Hazard. So I hope Hazard can stay here, otherwise we'll have to try something different.

“I don't know. I'm sure the club doesn't want to sell him. But, of course, we all have to respect his decision, I think. He's in the last season of contract (next year).

"If he wants to have another experience, we'll respect that. We'll try, of course, in any way to convince him (to stay), but it's not easy."
