Responding to JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy’s allegations that he was keeping silent on communally divisive developments in Karnataka, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he was doing his duty in maintaining law and order.
“Maintaining peace in the State is my responsibility and I am doing it. There is no question of compromising on it,” he said. The Chief Minister had reacted similarly in response to a tweet by Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw where she expressed concern over an increasingly divisive atmosphere in Karnataka.
