DALLAS _ Michael Irvin has contracted the coronavirus.
At least, at some point he did.
During an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, the Hall of Fame Cowboys receiver revealed his experience dealing with COVID-19 earlier this summer.
"I got COVID(-19), right? Got it, like, late June. When I got home, I didn't know I had it and then I got real sick, I mean a pounding headache for like four or five days. Couldn't eat, can't sleep, you've just got to endure the pain."
Irvin said he was tested for the disease twice, but the results came back negative both times.
"So I'm thinking 'I'm good. I don't have it, I don't have it,' Irvin said. "But I'm feeling the pain."
"Then after I went through about three weeks of hell, I said 'OK, I'm going to take the antibody test. Because it had to be something. It had to be COVID. There's no way I went through that kind of pain, that kind of hell and nobody knows what it is."
The test revealed the Irvin indeed had the antibodies for the virus.
Irvin isn't the only former Cowboy to have contracted the disease.
Former Cowboys safety Darren Woodson described his bout with COVID-19 like a "car crash."
"My body was aching, sore back, legs, hard to get out of bed for a day," Woodson said. "It affected me more mentally than physically ...
"The first couple of days, I just didn't know when I was going to get back to myself."
Woodson has since recovered from the disease and has had no lingering effects and fortunately, it appears Irvin has done the same.
"My doctor said I should be pretty good now," Irvin said.
