A trip on The Wheel of Liverpool has been on my bucket list for years.
I've always loved the idea of taking in the views of the city from the sky, but have felt too nervous to actually give it a go. I'm not scared of heights, but I am claustrophobic, so the idea of being stuck in a small space really made me anxious.
However, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go. The wheel is located next to the M&S Bank Arena and as I made my way there, I definitely felt the nerves kick in and I was starting to question whether I wanted to do it.

When I got there, I was just in time for the next journey round. I was instantly struck by the size of the wheel - standing at 60 metres high, it really is impressive.
Adult admission to the wheel was £12, which you paid in a booth before entering. The staff were very helpful and explained the process, including the fact that there was a button you could press if you wanted the ride to stop.
I entered the pod and took a seat on one of the benches. You have to remain seated throughout the journey, but you have a good view of everything from your seat thanks to the large windows.

It wasn't long before the wheel set off, and I was starting to feel nervous as we made our way to the top. The journey is accompanied by a recording from a tour guide, who shares interesting facts about the city as you take it all in.
However, the nerves were all worth it for the incredible views. The wheel was the perfect vantage point to take in all of the sights of the city. When the wheel stopped at the top, you could see all across the city and across to the Wirral. It's an incredible way to take in so many landmarks and iconic sights in one go.
The wheel goes around about three times, which means that the whole experience is over fairly quickly. This would probably be my only critique of the experience - it does feel like it is quite expensive for how long it lasts. However, I still am so glad I did it, and am very happy that I faced my fears and finally ticked it off my bucket list. If you've never been on the wheel, then I most definitely recommend it for the views you'll see.
