'I went on six dates a week and saved £12,000 on groceries over two years'

A woman has saved more than $15,000 (£12,000) on her grocery bill over two years by going on six dates per week. Vivian Tu, known as @YourRichBF on TikTok, claims to have saved a massive $150 (£121.80) per week since moving to New York, America, and joining its online dating scene.

The former Wall Street trader went viral in 2021 with a controversial clip in which she revealed her truth - but now claims it didn't start out as a money-saving exercise. When speaking with Elite Daily, Vivian said she "didn’t start going on dates just for food" but went along with it after noticing how it helped take the strain off her finances as she searched for her perfect match.

She said: "I can go to a fun tapas restaurant for (probably) free, or I can spend my own money on food at the grocery store that I still need to cook. And it’s probably not going to taste as good."

However, she wanted to make her position in "camp love" clear, adding "Deliberately going on dates for a free meal isn't a great idea. I am very much in the camp that you're dating to find love."

Vivian, who has 2.3 million TikTok followers, says she earns $95,000 (£77,126) in her job and side hustles, and has "very high" living expenses.

But despite trying to put the record straight, her unusual money-saving tactic continues to spark controversy online, with some users describing it as "genius" while others shamed her for "toxic femininity".

One user said: "We need a tutorial."

Another user added: "This is gangster."

A third user said: "You might be on to something..."

However, one more argued: "Borderline unethical."

Another user added: "I feel like you'll be in a 'What's mine is mine and what's yours is ours' kind of relationship."

Responding to the comments, Vivian said: "If you dated me between 2016 to 2018, you may be entitled to financial compensation.

"Some of those dates were super fun, but others were painful to sit through.

"Most of the time they [her dates] would talk about themselves and I would just chew."
