'I went from council house to Playboy mansion earning £10,000 a week as porn star'

A former porn star reckons X-rated hit TV drama Adult Material will help break down taboos about blue movies.

Lianne Young – now a sexual violence adviser for Britain’s biggest police force – hopes it will help win more protection for sex film actors.

And she claims more people are trying a porn career after Covid-19 job losses.

She said: “I applaud Channel 4 for opening this conversation.

"As a single mum who went into the industry to make money, parts of Adult Material felt like watching my own life.

"Sometimes it was degrading but I didn’t feel used.”

Adult Material features Call the Midwife star Hayley Squires and focuses on a woman’s life in the porn industry.

Lianne, 46, answered an ad in 1999, aged 24, and ended up making up to £10,000 a week in blue movies – going from a Bristol council house to the Playboy mansion in Los Angeles.

Her big break came on US show Sex Survivor in 2001.

She said: “It was like X-rated Big Brother and gave me a luxury life, parties.”

Mow she is in the Met Sexual Violence Unit (Tim Merry)

But Lianne retired “exhausted” at 27 and is now a counsellor for the Met’s Sexual Violence Unit.

She says “many are turning to a porn career after losing jobs in lockdown”.

“Porn isn’t going anywhere. But we can make it safer," she added.
