'I wasn't able to hug my dad at my mum's funeral because of coronavirus'

The UK is still on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic and it's currently unclear when the strict restrictions will be lifted.

Last week MirrorOnline shared a post on Facebook, asking our readers what the first thing they're going to do when they leave self-isolation is.

The post received hundreds of likes and shares with more than 2,000 people taking the time to comment.

We've had a look through the replies and it seems many people just can't wait to hug their nearest and dearest.

The responses were so touching, we've decided to share some of them here.

So here's a look at what you had to say...

One woman, named Janine, admitted that she'd been going through an incredibly difficult period since the lockdown started.

Janine explained how her mum had recently passed away and she sadly hadn't been able to hug her dad at the funeral because of social distancing rules.

She said that all she wanted to do when lockdown is over is comfort her grieving dad.

Janine wrote: "Hug and spend some time with my dad. My mum's funeral was last week and we had to have social distancing then so it's been hard not to be able just to go round and hold his hand and tell him it's going to be ok."

A man named Darren had also lost a loved one during the pandemic and wanted to give his relative a proper send off as soon as he could.

"Having a proper celebration to honour my brother who died during this pandemic," he said.  "And meet up with family and friends to raise a glass to him."

Gemma broke some hearts when she explained how she was looking forward to visiting her mum in a care home when all this was over.

"She doesn’t really understand why we can’t visit her," she added.

While Donna just wanted to see her daughter and grandson, commenting: "Hugging my wee grandson and my daughter who have their own home. Can't wait never missed them so much it's heartbreaking and just to survive this awful virus."

Other users shared how they wanted to see their significant others, who they weren't self-isolating with.

Lisa Jane, who was really missing her fiancé, posted: "We’ve not been apart for 15 years, but he’s had to move into the care home he runs single-handed as his Nanna can’t work, she’s in 12 week isolation because of her age.

"Me and our kids call him everyday but it’s not the same no hugs, but really appreciate everything he does and also had to give his second job up to help."

Rachel was also keen to be reunited with her boyfriend, adding: "He's in the army on standby at the moment so I have to stay away from him as I work in retail and the risk of me passing it on is high.

"I don't know when I'll see him again."
