'I was humiliated' - East Lothian mum left shocked after Ryanair staff threaten to blacklist her over a tenner

A North Berwick woman was threatened with blacklisting by Ryainair last weekend over a £10 rejected card payment.

Izbela Robecka, 33, was travelling from Edinburgh Airport to Warsaw with the airline to visit family on Saturday.

The East Lothian medical science student had been travelling with her 4 year old son Austin in tow when she decided to order meals for both of them on the two and a half hour flight.

However, the £13.50 transaction failed to process after an error message appeared on the card machine during the in-flight catering service.

“Two flight attendants came to me and said that if I will not pay the outstanding £10 bill for food then they will put me on a Ryanair black list and I will never fly with them again."

Luckily Iza was able to pay for part of the bill with £3.50 in change but still had £10 to pay.

"The attendant told me my that if I refused to borrow money from other passengers I would be blacklisted - the worst thing was that my card had been working fine!

"I phoned my bank as soon as we arrived in Warsaw and they said that there was absolutely no issue with my card or my account - hilariously they apologised for the inconvenience!

"I offered to pay straight after arriving in Warsaw but the flight attendants refused."

Iza has placed a complaint with Ryanair but is yet to receive any response.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live of the embarrassment she was put through, Iza said:

"My little boy was absolutely terrified and confused, he didn’t know why somebody was giving his Mummy hard time - he is still talking about it a week later and I have to reassure him that I will not let this happen again."

"People were shocked and didn’t know how to react - however one men kindly lent me £10 and as soon as we arrived in Warsaw I paid him back."

Izbela is currently set to fly back from Warsaw with the airline on Sunday.

"I’m absolutely terrified to even go onboard as I don’t know what will happen this time. I'm feeling extremely worried about flying with them again."
