I was homeless for many years: My Wigan Pier Story

Volunteer Greg Scupham started taking drugs as a teenager. He tells Maryam Qaiser how he turned his life around to become a volunteer.

I was brought up in a quite a posh, wealthy area but I got in with the wrong crowd and started taking drugs. One day my dad found me slumped on the sofa - I was breaking their hearts - and I left.

(Daily Mirror)

I became homeless for many years and I was offending quite a bit to feed my drug habit. Some days I was spending up to £500 a day on drugs such as cocaine.

After some time in rehab I sorted myself out and went clean. I have turned my life around, I went back home and now I volunteer with Homeless Street Angles, because I want to help people who are going through a hard time.
