'I was ghosted by a great guy - then I got a Facebook message explaining the truth'

It's an awful situation many of us have found ourselves in while dating - you start seeing someone, go out a few times, think everything is going swimmingly and then BOOM, out of nowhere they ghost you.

They stop replying to any of your messages, block you on all social media and seem to disappear from the face of the planet.

This is the scenario one woman claims to have found herself in after matching with a "nice" older man on Tinder.

In a post on TikTok, a user named @datingprofiledr who shares tales of dating in her 40s, explained how she went on three dates with the man and things were going great until he unexpectedly ghosted her.

She had no idea what had happened until she later received a message on Facebook from a girl she used to go to high school with.

The other woman wanted to know how she knew 'so and so'.

"I made the mistake of saying, 'Well, I met him on Tinder, we had three dates and then he ghosted me'.

"And she was like, 'Oh really?'

"And I was like 'Yeah, why?"

Turns out the man had been the high school friend's boyfriend for the last four years. Awkward.

The TikToker was incredibly apologetic about the whole thing.

She added: "I'm so sorry, I'm sorry I had to break that to you.

"She asked me all the questions, I answered and sent receipts.

"We're still friends. They're not."

More than 19,000 people have since watched her video, with thousands liking and dozens commenting to share their thoughts.

One person replied: "I am SHOCKED at the guys I've met/been on dates with that are posing as SINGLE but who are actually in a relationship, or worse, married!!"

Another said: "Never underestimate the small world..."

A third wrote: "Dude managed to give trust issues to at least two women at once."
