The Blago beat . . .
Who knew?
Apparently NOT Blago.
But former powerhouse State Rep. Judy Erwin got it — and nearly dropped her cuppa java when she got notification via email Friday morning of a special birthday shout-out to “Aunt Judy” from former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
“I was floored,” chuckled Erwin, who received one of Blago’s shout-out videos for a web service called Cameo; a new money maker for the former lawyer since his release from federal prison recently.
“Rod had no idea I was “Aunt Judy,” chirped Erwin, who had been Blago’s seatmate in the state Legislature in 1992 and whose nephew, Matt Erwin, had ordered the surprise video for his adoring aunt.
Erwin, once the executive director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education, was stunned by the shout-out and the deal her nephew got. “Matt got in early and only paid $65 before the price of Rod’s videos shot to $100 in a day.”
Blago’s “Aunt Judy” Cameo also noted:
“I understand you’re a loyal Democrat and that you always voted for me. Thank you. God bless you, Aunt Judy and I hope to see you sometime.”
Added Erwin: “The cameo is very funny, but it is also a little sad when you think of the former governor having to do pitches for people’s birthdays to make money.”
