I was edited to look like an angry black woman on Real Housewives but I want to come back to represent women of colour

Former The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Magali Gorre claims she was edited to look like 'an angry black woman' during her time on the show.

Magali, who starred in the first and second series of the ITVBe reality show about the glamorous lives of a group of wealthy women living in Cheshire, told the Manchester Evening News she was to make look like 'trouble' by the programme.

But the Dutch mother-of-three, who is married to football coach and former player Dean Gorre, has since been asked by fans to make a comeback and says she'd be glad to return to the show to represent 'women of colour.'

"I represented black women and I've been asked by fans 'please come back because you represent us,'" she told us.

"Twenty seven years ago I married my husband and I grew up in the white world of football.

"I went to a girls' school where everybody was white and I was black.

"On the show I represented women of colour and especially black women.

"The show was a platform and I stood up for myself.

"I'm a black woman representing women of colour and I'm successful and my husband is successful."

Magali, who left the show in 2016, after the second series, is disappointed she never had the 'closure' of taking part in one of the infamous reunion shows.

The end of series reunion, hosted by Brian Dowling, was introduced in the third series to give the ladies a chance to air their differences.

"I was labelled as a black angry woman," she said about her time on the show.

"The way I was edited and the way they protected certain people.

"The scenes they showed, I look like I'm trouble but I'll tell you when I'm not happy."

Magali moved to Cheshire 22 years ago with her family from Amsterdam and studied A-level English in order to 'express herself better.'

"I'm very lucky that the people of Cheshire were very warm towards me," she said.

'I had to be there,' Magali said of the anti-racism protests which have followed the police killing of George Floyd in the US (Magali Gorre)

Magali cites her love of Cheshire as a reason why she would return after a hiatus, as Lauren Simon, who was in the original cast alongside her, has.

"I represent Cheshire," Magali said.

"I'm a Cheshire woman living in Cheshire and I hope I can come back representing women of colour.

"I love reality TV and I hope I get a chance somewhere on TV."

When author and magazine columnist Magali left the show she announced she wanted to spend more time with her own family following the passing of her father the previous year, and the door was left open for her return.

During the 10th series last year Magali appeared in a special to celebrate the 100th episode along with Lauren, who recently returned for the 11th series after quitting in 2018.

The current line-up also includes Dawn Ward, Ester Dee, Hanna Kinsella, Rachel Lugo, Seema Malhotra, Tanya Bardsley and newcomer Nicole Sealey.

She added: "I think they should have more women of colour on the show.

Earlier this month Magali attended one of the Black Lives Matter protests held in Manchester.

"I needed to be there," she said.

"You can't murder someone because of their colour."

ITV has declined to comment.
