'I was a hotel manager - and I will never use shampoo provided in the rooms'

Staying in a hotel is exciting as it usually means you're on holiday - but you should remain mindful as you never know who stayed in the room before you. To help people stay safe, a former hotel manager has shared the things she would avoid using in hotel rooms.

TikTok user @Mellly_creations says she would never use the in-room shampoo and conditioner if it's stored in a screw top bottle. She said: "I've seen Nair (hair removal cream) and god knows what else in there."

However, she would use the products provided if it comes in a dispenser with a locked lid, knowing other guests wouldn't be able to interfere with the contents inside.

But that's not the only 'complimentary item' she'll avoid, as she'd give the coffee machine a wide berth too.

"On top of the fact that I've seen other things other than water being brewed, even though a housekeeper may rinse it out or wash the outside, that tube right there [inside the machine] never gets cleaned," she added.

Commenting on her video, which has been viewed more than two million times, one user said: "Oh my gosh, I am so innocent - I would have never thought any of that would happen."

Another user added: "New fears unlocked."

A third user said: "As a former houskeeping manager at Disney I also never use glass cups in rooms. Also, immediately search for bed bugs before settling in."

One more user added: "The older I get, the more I hate staying at hotels."
