While some people might love nothing more than having young family members at their wedding, others would rather opt for a child-free event that bans anyone under a certain age from attending.
And although a child-free wedding might be less than ideal for guests with kids, it's important to respect the wishes of the bride and groom - especially if they've also gone out of their way to provide childcare for you.
But one woman on Reddit has vented her frustrations after her guests chose to completely ignore her request to keep kids away from her big day, even after she hired a total of five babysitters to help look after the little ones of any guests who couldn't find their own childcare.
The bride, from the US, also explained she doesn't have a problem with children, but her venue charged full price for all children over the age of two, meaning an extra $250 (£190) for every child who attended the wedding.

In her post, she said: "The kids are generally good, so the main issue was the cost. We wrote this on the website and clarified it with anyone who asked. We got a lot of grief over this, so we felt a fair comprise was to:
"1. Extend the dinner the night before to include kids, and the restaurant was very nice about having close to 100 kids.
"2. Hire 5 babysitters for 25-30 kids on the wedding night for locals who couldn't find a babysitter last-minute, and for guests who travelled with their kids. My in-laws offered their home less than 30 minutes away to host all the kids."
On the day of her wedding, three couples arrived with a total of nine children between them - and when the groomsmen offered to take the kids to the babysitting location, the parents "made a scene".
The children stayed at the wedding, but the event soon descended into chaos - with some kids throwing food.
The bride added: "When the ceremony started, one kid started wailing and another skipped down the aisle in front of me. I played it cool, and the staff was on top of it. They escorted the mum and the 2 kids outside. The rest of the ceremony went smoothly.
"During the reception, the same 2 kids were screaming and throwing food. Other guests and staff were trying to get them to sit. At one point, one kid went under my dress, which was so f***ing weird. I didn't notice and almost tripped.
"My bridesmaids pointed out that the food they threw got on my dress and that's when I had enough. I gave my husband 'the look' and he rounded up the kids, brought them to the parents, and asked them to leave for good."
After the event, the bride and her husband decided to send a bill to the three couples who brought their children to get them to pay the extra $250 per head.
And while two couples were immediately apologetic and paid without question, the couple with the particularly rowdy brood refused to pay up - because they were asked to leave before the cake was cut.
She said: "After the event, we sent a bill to the three couples with a letter saying we had a lovely time with them and reminding them that they agreed to pay for the uninvited kids.
"Two couples paid and were apologetic, and even said they understood why we couldn't include the kids. Of course, the couple with the 2 rowdy kids refused to pay because we asked them to leave before cake ... seriously.
"Instead of apologising, we got a nasty call. All I said was they should be lucky I didn't send the dry cleaning bill for the dress."
