I want to meet my friends this June Bank Holiday - what will Ireland's restrictions allow me do?

The upcoming June bank holiday weekend is looking like it will bring some summer weather with it as Met Eireann predicts a rise in temperatures and clear skies.

However, before you go planning your bank holiday BBQ, it will be useful to take a look at what restrictions are still in place at the moment.

1. Social gatherings

Members of three households can meet outdoors or six people from any number of households.

The six-person limit does not include under 13s.

Fully vaccinated people can meet indoors in private homes if there are no more than three households present.

2. Cross county travel

Are you feeling like a beach bank holiday getaway?

You can have your choice of beautiful seaside locations as guidelines on domestic travel have lifted, allowing you to travel anywhere within the country.

3. Hotels and other accommodation

Planning on a weekend staycation, look no further as hotels, B&Bs, self-catering and other accommodation are open for overnight guests on June 2.

Overnight guests will be allowed to dine indoors and outdoors with prior booking in place in some hotels. Hotel residents can also enjoy the hotel bar.

4. Bars, cafes and restaurants

Outdoor dining will resume on June 7. However, bars, cafes and restaurants will remain closed except for takeaway this bank holiday weekend.

An exciting week is ahead following the June bank holiday as Ireland enters the next phase of its reopening plan.

From June 7, outdoor dining will resume for groups of up to six people, and people will be allowed to have visitors to their home from one other household.

Organised outdoor events can have up to 100 people in attendance and 200 people in venues with a capacity of 5,000 or more. Guests at wedding receptions will be increased to 25.

Gyms, swimming pools, and leisure centres are all set to reopen for individual training, while cinemas and theatres will also reopen.

Those on waiting lists for their theory test will be delighted to know Driver theory test Services will partially open, allowing 25,000 tests per month.
