'I want him so bad!' - Arsenal fans urge Edu and Mikel Arteta to complete £50m summer transfer

Arsenal finally ended their search for an attacking-midfielder during the January transfer window, signing Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid for the remainder of the season.

The position had been high on manager Mikel Arteta's to-do list throughout last summer's transfer window, but the club was unable to bolster the No.10 role, despite heavy interest in Lyon ace Houssem Aouar.

However, the Gunners, after being linked with a plethora of names throughout January, including Julian Brandt of Borussia Dortmund and Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia, opted to go with Odegaard, signing the Norwegian ace on a temporary basis for the rest of the campaign.

Since arriving in north London, the midfielder, who has already hinted that he would be open to staying in north London, despite only being a few weeks into his loan spell, has made five appearances, which has featured an impressive showing in Thursday's Europa League tussle with Benfica.

Despite Odegaard adding a creative spark to the Gunners' midfield options, some Arsenal fans are keen to see the club sign a big-name attacking-midfielder this coming summer.

In the last few months, several Arsenal supporters have built up an obsession for Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish. The England international, who missed Villa's 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon, has been nothing short of outstanding this season, scoring six goals and claiming 12 assists in 22 Premier League appearances.

Grealish has been the star in Villa's team this season, as proven by his statistics. However, some Gunners supporters have now decided that they would prefer Edu to pull off a summer transfer for an alternative option.

The man in question is Leicester City star James Maddison, who has been equally as good as Grealish in the Premier League this term. The former Norwich man has scored 11 goals this season, as well as registering 10 assists, in all competitions, highlighting his importance to the Foxes' charge in both the league and in Europe.

In truth, both Grealish and Maddison are very gifted individuals, with both of them key to their respective clubs' aims. However, after the latter stroked Leicester into the lead against Villa with a cool and composed finish on Sunday, some Arsenal fans took to social media to admit that they would prefer the Gunners to sign Maddison over Grealish.

Below, football.london has taken a close look at what some Arsenal supporters have had to say.

As you can see from the tweets above, a cluster of Gunners supporters are eager to see the club land Maddison instead of the Villa captain, although a club for either player would cost the Londoners a small fortune.

According to Transfermarkt, Maddison is currently valued at £49.5million, but Leicester would almost certainly demand a much higher fee than that to part with one of their most prized assets.

Maddison has been an influential figure for Leicester this season, playing as big a role as anyone in their push for a top-four finish this term. Should Leicester seal a spot in the Champions League for next season, his valuation would rise and he may be reluctant to leave.
