I love Jeff Bridges, have my entire life. It all started when I was watching Arlington Road as a young kind and asked why my dad was in the movie. Simply put: My dad and Jeff Bridges looked alike. But as I got older, I realized they were the same person and the rest is history.
It formed a lifelong appreciation for the actor and his laidback attitude. I’ve purchased his art, I listen to his music, and I just love anything that Jeff Bridges does. Which is why I think his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! so perfectly encapsulates who he is while also being highly relatable. Isn’t that why everyone loves the Dude so much? He’s just that guy!
Bridges went to talk to Jimmy Kimmel about his new movie, Tron: Ares, when Kimmel asked him to walk us all through a day in the life of Jeff Bridges. And it starts with Bridges waking up with a sense of dread. “I wake up with kind of the blues, man. Kind of wake up with a feeling of dread,” Bridges said. Kimmel asked if it was every morning and he said “Just about.”
Look, I don’t want to be all doom and gloom but same, Jeff. Same.
“The Dude really changed your life”
One of the things that I have always loved is how much Jeff Bridges loves the Dude. The character from the Coen Brothers’ film The Big Lebowski is a fan favorite. To honor my dad, who basically was the Dude, I buy a piece of art of the Dude whenever I see it. And Jeff Bridges clearly still loves talking about the character.
Kimmel pointed out that one of his shirts has been in three different movies, including in The Big Lebowski and it led to Bridges and Kimmel talking about the movie. When Kimmel said that the movie changed his life, Bridges responded with “I love the Dude.” And it is nice to see just how much Bridges embraces the roles people know him for.
I love actors who know that people want to talk to them about one role and lean into it. With Bridges, the Dude is always a topic of choice and he always seems happy to dive into the film and it is beautiful to see him really embrace what people love him for. But at the end of the day, I think I will always love and respect Jeff Bridges. Especially when he’s relatable and says he wakes up just dreading things.
Can I get one of those moos though?
