I love Christmas and all of the traditions that come with it - including a trip to the Christmas markets.
However, despite admiring them many times when walking past, I had never been to the Liverpool Christmas Markets before. This year, I decided to change that and headed to St George's Plateau to get myself into the festive spirit.
The markets are open until Christmas Eve and are already proving popular with visitors. I went on a Thursday afternoon and found crowds of visitors enjoying the stalls.

As soon as I walked up to the markets I was instantly struck by the Windmill Bar, which is topped by an impressive festive decoration. If you're looking to get festive, then the Liverpool Christmas Markets will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit thanks to its beautifully decorated stalls playing seasonal songs.
St George's Hall is lit up, offering a magical, sparkling backdrop for the markets. One of the highlights is definitely the Ferris wheel - the large fairground ride lights up in different colours and can be viewed across the markets. If you'd like to take a ride on the big wheel, it costs £6 per person.

In terms of stalls, you really are spoiled for choice at the markets. The stalls go way back across St George's Plateau and the top of William Brown Street and I was amazed at just how many there were.
If you are looking for a unique gift, you can choose from an array of decorations, jewellery and crafts. Those looking to enjoy a snack or a festive tipple can head to one of the many food stalls or pay a visit to one of the bars - you can take your pick of the tipi bar, ski bar, windmill bar and the new Bavarian bar.

You can have a go at one of the many rides or games, or simply just sit and enjoy a snack and drink whilst soaking up the incredible atmosphere. I can't believe I hadn't visited before until now but I will definitely be enjoying another trip to this must-visit attraction before it closes on Christmas Eve.
