If I had to sum up Frozen the Musical in one word it would have to be 'magical'.
It was everything and more that I thought a Disney stage show would be.
The special effects, the costumes, lighting and the amazing singing were awesome.
I have probably watched the film more than 50 times - yes, really! I was a little bit worried that it wouldn’t be anything like the film or that they would change the songs and not stay true to the characters.
Luckily they didn’t and I was secretly singing along throughout the show.
I was only two when the film came out but I was hooked. There’s a cringey video of me belting out one of the songs back then.
When we played, I was always Anna and my older sister Lily-Mae was Elsa. We had all the costumes, shoes and all the tiaras. I still have some of them in my cupboard. I asked for my next few birthdays to be Frozen themed and I think my mummy made four birthday cakes in all for us over the years.
Frozen is roughly based on Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale The Snow Queen where good overcomes evil.
It’s set in a kingdom called Arendelle and I don’t know how they managed it, but you felt like you were really there. Somehow the pillars on the stage made it look as if they had turned to ice. When we saw Elsa become Queen and flee to the North Mountain and then creates her palace of Ice, the theatre started to feel much colder - or maybe that was just how it made you feel.
So many children in the audience at the theatre had dressed up as Elsa and Anna. You could hear them throughout the show do little screams when they knew what was going to happen.
When Elsa, who mum says is played by Samantha Barks from the Les Misérables movie, sang the most famous song in the show Let It Go, you could feel the excitement in the audience.
For me, one of the most spectacular parts of the show was when Elsa changed into her beautiful blue sparkly dress.
I don’t know how she did it. If you blinked you would have missed it but it happened in a flash. Everyone gasped - even mummy went ‘Wow’.
I wanted to give Olaf the snowman a warm hug and I loved Sven the reindeer.
There were a couple of extra songs that I didn’t recognise and the Trolls from the film were replaced with the creepy-looking Hidden Folk.
The younger actresses who played Anna and Elsa were fantastic. They were great singers but also you believed they were sisters as they acted so well together. I really wish I can be that good one day.
I left the show with snow confetti in my hair after the final scene. I was still picking out bits from my hair on the train home.
I’ll be singing Do You Want To Build a Snowman for weeks now.
