Serge Gnabry hailed for progress after Arsenal exit: 'I've never seen Andy Robertson get beat like that'

Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has "definitely improved" after leaving Arsenal and had the better of Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson all night, according to Andy Cole.

The 23-year-old was substituted in injury time after an impressive display on the right wing as Liverpool and Bayern played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Gnabry left Arsenal for Werder Bremen in 2016 in a deal worth £5m and, two years later, is now a regular in Bayern's starting XI.

Former Manchester United striker Cole is surprised at how well Gnabry dealt with Scotland captain Robertson in the Champions League last-16 first-leg clash.

Speaking as a pundit on beIN Sports, Cole said: "Considering he couldn't get a game at Arsenal – they kept saying how talented he was, but couldn't get a game – he's gone back to Germany and he's definitely improved.

"I've never seen Robertson get beat like that by anyone, in the Champions League or the Premier League, and tonight he had a difficult night and he knows he had a difficult night."
