‘I’ve had a bit of fun with it’: Katherine Ryan reveals she gets mistaken for Drew Barrymore

Katherine Ryan has revealed that she gets mistaken for US actress-turned-talk show host Drew Barrymore.

The 40-year-old says it has happened “a few times” to the point where she has had to “set the record straight”.

Speaking to the Standard, the Canadian comedian explained: “I’ve been told I look a bit like Drew Barrymore, and I’ve had a bit of fun with it, but I always set the record straight.”

As for those not seeking Gertie from ET’s autograph and fully aware of the TV and podcast star’s shtick, she admits some can be a bit wary of approaching her as she’s not afraid to call people out on her various platforms.

“I can be a bit cheeky, can’t I?” she laughed. “I love a good story and that’s also what my listeners expect, but really I’m harmless and probably not what most people expect when they meet me.

“I’m sure some people wonder if they’ll end up as material, but it’s always respectful and people usually take it in the good humour it’s intended.”

In between juggling being a mum-of-three, Ryan has recently re-teamed with recipe box company Gousto for their lip-smacking new campaign, The Dinner Show.

The Dinner Show celebrates film and TV’s most mouth-watering dishes, helping subscribers recreate scene-stealing snacks like *that* spaghetti dish from Lady and the Tramp and the Big Kahuna Burger (Pulp Fiction, anyone?) in the comfort of their own home.

With ingredients arriving straight on your doorstep and recipes starting at £2.99 a portion, it’s no wonder Katherine was raving about just how easy (and tasty) Gousto’s new campaign has made her life.

Speaking about her involvement, she said: “I’m the biggest fan of Gousto and have been ordering with them for years and years so I jumped at another opportunity to work with them on something fun and try this latest recipe range.”

As for who her dream celebrity dinner guests (dead or alive) would be, she didn’t have to think too hard.

She said: “Marilyn Monroe, David Bowie, and Audrey Hepburn. They were all iconic in their own right. I had Louis Theroux over the other day too and I’d love to have him back anytime.”
