'I've got to be honest' - What Sean Dyche said about Mikel Arteta with Arsenal new Everton manager's first opponent

Sean Dyche will go head-to-head with Mikel Arteta once again this weekend as Everton welcome Arsenal to Goodison Park.

The Saturday lunchtime clash will be Dyche's first as Blues boss after replacing Frank Lampard at the helm last week, having spent just under a year out of the game following his sacking from Burnely in April 2021.

Heading into the clash the fortunes of the two clubs couldn't be further apart, with the Gunners looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League. Meanwhile, Everton enter the second half of their season with their ever-present Premier League status well and truly on the line as they sit 19th in the table having not won a game since October.

But Dyche has history with Arteta and even aimed a cheeky dig his way during his time at Burnley.

"Well obviously I'm better looking, he's certainly got a better head of hair than me, that's for sure," joked Dyche. "Beyond that, I don't think we're quite in the same league as them financially, I've got to be honest. I think that's a stretch in the mark a little bit."

The Clarets would end up claiming a valuable 1-1 draw in the fixture after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's opener was cancelled out by Chris Wood shortly before half-time.
