I read this week that Apostolos Vellios was heading back to Nottingham Forest – and he sounded fairly excited at the prospect.
To be honest, I’m not really sure why.
I’ve got more chance of playing up front for Martin O’Neill next season than Vellios, who let’s be right, has endured a pretty uninspiring spell at Waasland-Beveren over in Belgium since joining them on loan at the beginning of the season.
In 17 appearances, he scored four times and hasn’t played since March, while at Forest, he scored eight times in 45 games.
If he can’t score goals and impress in the Belgian league, with all due respect, how does he think he’ll be able to score regularly in the Championship for Forest?
The reason he was sent over there was because the club didn’t think he was good enough to play in the first team, and you’d be hard pushed to argue with that based on what we’ve seen – what's changed?
There’s no doubt Forest should get him off the wage bill and let him go this summer.
I also saw Thomas Lam moaning about living in Nottingham during his stay here. I’m genuinely not sure how he can grumble about living in a city like this.
There’s plenty to do, and it’s a great city - maybe his view is clouded because he didn't play more.

In truth, he didn’t pull up any trees after joining the club in 2016, and never looked good enough to be playing for Forest, so his departure is not exactly a big loss to the club.
