‘I've been denied for three years!’ - Colin Kaepernick stuns NFL by holding open workout at a Riverdale school

Colin Kaepernick says he will 'continue to be ready' to return to the NFL after he snubbed an official private workout in front of team scouts to instead host his own at a local high school.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who achieved global fame after starting the ‘Take A Knee’ movement, kneeling for the US national anthem in protest against social injustice, has not played professionally since 2016.

The NFL laid on the private session at the Atlanta Falcons’ training facility, with all 32 franchises invited, but Kaepernick decided to boycott the event as media were not allowed to attend.

He instead worked out at Charles R Drew High School in Riverdale, and told reporters: "Our biggest thing was making sure we had transparency in what went on.

"We weren't getting that elsewhere, so we came out here. It's important you're all here [the media]. You've all been attacked for the last three years, you continue to be attacked. We appreciate what you all do.

"We have nothing to hide. So we're waiting for the 32 owners, the 32 teams, [NFL commissioner] Roger Goodell, to stop running. Stop running from the truth, stop running from the people.

"My agent is ready to talk to any team; I'll continue to be ready.”
