'I've always said it' - Barcelona's Eric Garcia reveals who he thinks Man City's best player is

Eric Garcia has explained why he returned to Barcelona after his stint with Manchester City and named Bernardo Silva as the club's best player.

Garcia joined City in the summer of 2017 and would impress Pep Guardiola with his attitude and ability. However, in August 2020, the centre-back told Guardiola and the Blues that he did not wish to sign a new deal at the club.

The teenager would remain at the Etihad until his contract expired at the end of that campaign. Garcia would go on to rejoin Barca and Guardiola went on to express regret that the defender did not see his long-term future in England.

Speaking to Gerard Romero on Twitch, Garcia lifted the lid on his City exit. He explained: "I am fully aware of my abilities.

"I come from Manchester City where I had a lot of competition and I had to make the most of it. At Barcelona, there is fierce competition and that makes us all better

"I really wanted to go to Barca. I told Pep and he understood it perfectly."

Garcia made 35 appearances in total for the Blues' senior team before he moved to Barca. Having spent so long at the Etihad, the central defender has a good gauge of the quality of City's squad.

With that in mind, the defender named Bernardo as the club's best player. Explaining his decision, he said: "I’ve always said that the best player in City is Bernardo Silva.

"If he comes to Barcelona he will have to fight for his starting position as there is a lot of competition here." The Portuguese midfielder has been linked to Camp Nou as recently as the summer but Guardiola has so far been able to keep hold of his midfield star.
