'I tried the viral cling film hack on my Christmas tree - it went horribly wrong'

If you're particularly busy around the festive season, you may be really tempted to save some time on decorating your tree by trying the clingfilm hack that has been doing the rounds on social media. If you decorate your tree in the desired way, and then carefully wrap it up in clingfilm, when you unwrap it the following year it should look as good as it did previously with none of the effort.

However, one mum tried the trick, and it didn't go to plan at all, as she even called herself a 'dips***' for doing it completely wrong. Annie Pries, aka @anniepries7 showed her hilarious fail on TikTok, and asked people to 'learn from my mistake' in the caption.

In the video, she said she was 'super excited' to get her tree out of storage, and her tree could be seen covered in clingfilm, ready to be unwrapped for the festivities.

She then showed herself cutting the clingfilm, while the text across the screen reads: "Diving right in to the beauty I left behind last year."

The tree is then revealed, and the woman says: "Simple one-minute fluffing, thinking I'm hot s*** for this idea." The festive fir then begins to look a lot better after some simple adjustments, making social media users wonder what the problem is with the tree.

But it becomes apparent when she plugs the tree in at the mains, quickly realising that in her haste to open the clingfilm to reveal the tree, she's accidentally cut the Christmas lights meaning the tree cannot be lit up in all its glory.

Annie then said she had to 'redo the whole tree anyway', meaning the clingfilm hack really did not save her any time at all - in fact, quite the opposite.

In the comments, people said they were concerned as soon as they saw her looking to unwrap the tree with scissors.

One wrote: "Having done Christmas décor work for 7 years… the second I saw the scissors I was like 'oh no'."

"This actually made me laugh. 100% something I would do", another admitted.

Someone else said: "My jaw is STILL dropped and I gasped so loud!"

A TikToker said their concerns with the method were elsewhere, writing: "I would be worried about spiders."
