If you tuned in for our "butterbeer" inspired latte video earlier this year, you may remember me mentioning that there was a drink on the Starbucks Secret Menu that was inspired by the Mint Aero.
Now, this is typically served as a Frappuccino but it's simply just too cold for that.
So I slightly tweaked the recipe to make a nice and warm version, which is perfect to keep your hands warm at the Christmas markets or just as a treat.
This is the 'Mint Aero' hot chocolate, it's not an official drink but you can definitely taste where the inspiration came from.
It's really easy to make, just ask your barista for a white hot chocolate and add peppermint syrup - hot chocolates all come with whipped cream, so you don't even have to pay extra for the topping.
The white chocolate base does have a small amount of dairy, so those who don't have lactose might want to take note.
You can have any milk in your drink, I personally go for soy, but you can opt for any.
I wouldn't recommend going for coconut milk or the nut blend with this particular drink, that might make the taste a little bit different and completely alter your drink.
To make this drink in the classic cold form, order a cream based white mocha Frappuccino, add peppermint syrup and java chips.
This is one of the drinks that I don't have very often, but when I do it feels like a luxurious treat.
Peppermint syrup is available all year, but I find it always reminds me of Christmas time.
Maybe it's because the syrup tastes just like a candy cane.
