I tried the ISAWITFIRST home essentials range for students going away to university

By Jada Jones

One of the most exciting things about going to university is your newfound freedom.

When you move from home to your new accommodation it's fun learning the ropes although there are some things you might not realise the importance of.

ISAWITFIRST have expanded their homeware range with some bits that are absolutely perfect for university students moving away from home for the first time (and if you've previous moved away from home and this year isn't your first, there's still some things you might like).

I know when I first moved away from home there were some things that didn't occur to me as essentials at all until I found myself wishing for them everyday.

Blue Sass & Belle Strip Off Bath Mat

If you have managed to snag an en-suite in your student living quarters then you are definitely going to want a bath mat.

This blue bath mat will keep you from slipping when you're getting in and out of the shower and is certainly a conversation starter.

The cheeky 'strip off' note, with a smiling face in the 'o', could not be better suited to any other room.

It has a great thickness so I don't worry about soaking all the way through when I get out of the shower and it does make me smile when I see it.

This is by far the most fun bath mat I've come across (stripes just can't compete) and I would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to slip coming out of the shower.

Cream House Doctor Washing Instructions Laundry Bag

Most of us have one of these at home, maybe not this exact bag but one that does the job.

It might not seem like something you need, but when laundry starts to pile up in one corner of your room you'll start to think otherwise.

Especially as washing and drying facilities are typically shared which means you'll have to carry all of your dirty clothes to the nearest facilities.

I personally think this is a great laundry bag as it comes with instructions of how to care for your clothes as well as being sturdy.

That could mean a few less awkward calls home about 'how do I wash towels again? Can it go in with my t-shirts?'.

White Double Tropical Leaf Duvet Set

When it comes to a bedroom, whatever is covering your duvet is truly setting the tone for the whole space.

In most student apartments you have a bed and a desk chair and that's the full extent of seating in your private space.

When you have friends over one of the first things that they will notice is your sheets (and it's likely the first thing you see on returning).

This set is reversible so you can mix up with two different designs without having to fork out for a second set.

I really like the feel and these sheets are perfect for the warm nights we often see throughout September.

Multi Myrrh And Tonka 100ml Diffuser

Something I didn't know before I went to university is that a lot of student accommodations don't allow candles (for the risk of fire).

This isn't the worst news in the world, but for fans of wax melts, candles and gorgeous scents it can be quite the adjustment.

Luckily diffusers exist and they're brilliant for filling a room, I found this one a little bit difficult to open.

But that does mean it didn't leak in transit which is quite a relief.

The scent is relaxing and perfect for making any room tranquil, you can get your own here.

Cream Wick & Tide Coconut And Vanilla Scented Sun And Moon Candle

Decorative candles can sometimes seem a little bit silly, if you're going to burn them then they lose their shape.

So some people choose to not burn these candles, and with it often not being allowed in student housing this is a lovely addition to any shelf.

You do get the smell of coconut and vanilla but it's also an adorable addition to any space.

It was a little smaller than I anticipated but is carefully crafted and comes with a thank you note (with discount code!) inside the box.

I think this is lovely for in your student home or even as a gift.

Rose Gold Stemless Wine Tumbler

This pink wine cup tumbler is ideal for on the go, the shape fits comfortably in your hand.

The double wall insulation means it can keep drinks cold for up to nine hours (with ice) and hot for up to three hours.

Holding up to 12oz this is perfect for Starbucks lovers (that's the equivalent of a 'tall').

It's stylish and the plastic lid makes for a very comfortable drinking experience.

Hot Pink Chilly Tumbler

This 24oz tumbler is bigger than even the biggest drink at Starbucks (the Venti is just 20oz)

It' comes with a Shatter-Proof Tritan Straw and can keep your drink cold (with ice) for up to 18 hours.

At that point I hope you'd have managed to get through what you're drinking. It can keep liquids hot for up to 10 hours also.

It's very Instagram friendly without showing how far through your drink you are.

I think it's perfect for if you're making iced coffees at home.
