I tried the giant £26 'Ferrero Rocher' which weighs half a kilo - and struck gold

Ferrero Rochers are always a winner at Christmas time so what could possibly be better than one that weighs half a kilo?

Although the creation by London-based dessert company Bad Brownie isn't strictly a massive Ferrero Rocher, the 500g dessert is a sight to behold.

Underneath the gold foil wrapping is a delectable fudge brownie in the shape of the popular Italian chocolate and hazelnut treat.

Mixed into the dessert are handfuls of caramelised hazelnuts and a thin, crispy layer of hazelnut praline.

In the middle, is a single Ferrero Rocher wrapped in a Nutella-flavoured milk chocolate wafer.

For an extra festive finish, there is also edible gold dust on the outside.

It looks and sounds amazing - but how does it actually taste?

With how dense it is, I was slightly concerned that it would be dry, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

It was incredibly rich and indulgent but tasted superb.

There is a card with calorie information provided in the box, but I think if you're going to enjoy something like this then blissful ignorance in that department is the way to go.

The Ferrero Rocher in the middle holds up well when the brownie is sliced into manageable servings (Bad Brownie recommend between six and eight) and the overall taste of the dessert does well to replicate the flavour of the little treat.

Impressively, it will also keep in the fridge for up to three weeks and can even be frozen for up to three months. So if you're determined to finish it all by yourself, this makes it considerably easier.

Cheekily named the Ambassador's Golden Balls, the brownie comes in at £26 plus postage.

It's certainly not cheap but you can tell that good quality ingredients have been used to make it and if you have a chocolate and hazelnut lover in your life, they'll be sure to love it.

Alternatively, just treat yourself to one. It's Christmas after all, you deserve it.
