I tried the beauty subscription that can save shoppers £462 a year on brands like Elemis and Pixi

With the New Year coming up, many of us will want to create new routines and resolutions to get 2023 off to a great start, whether that's joining the gym to keep fit, subscribing to Disney+ and vowing to watch something every Sunday, or spending less and saving more over the next 12 months.

One of my resolutions this year is definitely to spend less money on makeup and skincare. Quite often I’ll think nothing of dropping £20 on Aldi’s latest Lacura range, or nipping into Boots for a meal deal and coming out with £35 worth of lipstick.

However, I’ve discovered a way to curb my cosmetic spending while still scratching that beauty itch, by investing in a Glossybox subscription.

Glossybox is a beauty subscription brand which allows shoppers to spend less than £15 a month, but receive around £50 worth of products - sometimes even more.

Their one month rolling subscription , which can be cancelled any time, costs £14.75 a month with free postage, or beauty buffs can tie into a 12 month subscription and pay £11.50 monthly, saving even more money.

Those who opt for the rolling subscription for a year could save around £423 a year on impulse beauty buys, while those paying £11.50 for the contract could save £462. I had no idea I could be spending nearly £600 a year on cosmetics here and there, but looking back and totting up what I’ve purchased this year, it’s so easily done.

While shoppers who sign up today won’t receive this December box , this sneak peek gives you an idea of the quality of the products you’ll find in your January box.

The Glossybox December Wishful Moments Box is the perfect way to create party season looks for less that will see you through the New Year. It’s also a great opportunity to throw away any old, expired makeup and head into 2023 with a revamped beauty collection.

The products come in a festive tin box , packed with six beauty bargains worth £53 - seven if you include the fact that there are not one, but two of the best-selling, TikTok favourite, Pixi Glow Tonic minis. The product has racked up over 1,000 five star reviews on the Boots website, praised for deeply cleansing and exfoliating skin to reveal a radiant and glowing complexion.

I’ve wanted to try this for a while, but at £18 for a full-size product, I was reluctant in case I didn’t love it. Luckily, Glossybox means I can try out the Pixi Glow Tonic to see if I get on with it before committing to a full bottle.

Also included in the tin is The Beauty Crop Glow Milk pressed illuminating powder, as well as a Give Them Lala Lip Kit worth £23. The duo offers a super-pigmented, long-lasting formula, perfect for a night-out look.

The haul also features a Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer Booster, usually £28, an Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash. which is around £25 full size, and a Monuskin Rosewood Reviving Mist - all of which are high-end brands I wouldn’t usually purchase, opting for more affordable cosmetics, so it’s great that Glossybox offers me the chance to experiment with new brands and discover new favourites at an affordable price point.

If you’re planning to save money on makeup, or have promised yourself more ‘self-care’ in 2023, Glossybox could be the solution for your resolution. You can subscribe to the beauty box here.
