'I tried the beauty Easter egg that gets you £212 worth of products for £40 including £98 anti-ageing cream'

Beauty subscription brand Glossybox wowed shoppers last month when they announced the return of their limited edition Easter Egg. The luxury buy contained high end products worth over £200 for less than a quarter of the cost - so it’s no surprise that it was one of the first of its kind to sell out this spring.

A number of retailers have released similar limited edition beauty eggs this year, after they’ve skyrocketed in popularity in recent years. Other brands who have launched their own version include LookFantastic, Boots and MAC Cosmetics.

But at only £40, Glossybox’s has been one of the best value for money, with contents valued at £212, compared to LookFantastic’s £60 egg, which included around £201 worth of products.

The products come packaged inside a marble cardboard egg, and one of the items - the Revolution Forever Limitless Allure Palette - is so big, it doesn’t actually fit inside the egg, so is sent alongside it, carefully bubble wrapped to prevent any damage.

The palette is usually £20, and contains 27 shades, including a range of mattes, shimmers and pressed glitters, working out at less than £1 per shade. The colours are mostly neutrals with some pinks and golds, reminding me of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette, which makes for the perfect everyday palette that works for both minimalist and glam looks.

The colours are really pretty, and for how affordable they are, Revolution products perform incredibly well. These are shades I would typically use, and I don’t think I’d ever need another eyeshadow palette after using this one.

Of the 10 beauty items inside, five are full sized, with five deluxe mini versions from big name brands like Elemis and Liz Earle.

The highest value item and standout hero product inside the Easter egg has to be the Avant Deluxe Hyaluronic Acid Vivifying Face & Eye Night Cream, which is worth £98 on its own - more than twice the cost of the entire box.

While I would never splurge nearly £100 on a skincare product, it’s an incredible way to try out a full-sized, high-end skincare product for a snip of the price. The two-in-one face and eye cream feels incredibly indulgent, so here’s hoping in a few weeks I look five years younger?

Also very high end is the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, worth £35 - but some of the cheaper products are certainly nothing to turn your nose up at, either, with the £3.50 Barry M Lip Liner a universally loved beauty product that works well with most lip products, and a £6 Hawaiian Tropic Golden Paradise body spray that smells like summer in a bottle

Recently going viral on TikTok was The Original Hair Syrup, as people hop on a hair oiling trend. I did go to use this before a shower the other day before realising you have to leave it on for an hour before washing it off, so that’s one to try over the bank holiday weekend to see if it lives up to its social media hype.

The box contains a really nice mix of haircare, skincare and makeup, including the new Liz Earle Smooth + Glow Exfoliating Tonic mini, which is the ideal size for travelling, as well as a Vita Liberata Gradual Tanning Lotion and Ciaté Bamboo Bronzer for getting summer ready, and a Frank Body Rose Gold Shimmer Scrub, which leaves you glittering with silky smooth skin.

If you did miss out on the Glossybox offering this Spring, there are plenty of others to choose from. We picked out some of the best beauty offerings for Easter, including brands like L’OCCITANE and Rituals here.
