I tried TGI Friday's new summer range at Iceland - and this is what I thought

If there's one thing I love, it's nice weather teamed with good food and something nice to drink

Did someone say BBQ?

So when supermarket Iceland reached out to me about the new range of BBQ must-haves from TGI Fridays, I knew it was something I needed to try out.

TGI Fridays has a range of five new and exclusive products to Iceland, created solely with BBQ season in mind, and there really is an option for everyone.

One thing I love is that some of the dishes from the range, like the TGI Fridays Skin On Fries (825g) start from as little as £2, so it's an even better option for BBQ'ing on a budget - especially for large families.

I was lucky enough to try all five dishes before their April release date and the results were surprising.

The items arrived nicely packaged and as everything was already frozen, I was able to take things out of their respective cardboard packaging and store in my freezer using just the film packing to save space.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised with all of the new items, keep reading to find my individual verdict for each.

My verdict

TGI Cheese & Jalapeño Hot Dogs (500g) - £3.75

Rating - 11/10

This was probably mine (and my Mum's) favourite out of the whole new range. Between the two of us we finished four hot dogs in a couple of hours.

Mind you, the sausages are huge. They're bursting with flavour and you really get the tangy cheese and jalapeno kick. One thing I'm usually not too keen on is tough skin on sausages, these cooked just right and were easily as simple to chomp into without causing a mess.

Teamed with a super soft brioche bun and I can feel my mouth watering all over again.

TGI Fridays Ultimate BBQ Sausage 360g - £3.75

Rating - 8.5/10

Amazing flavours and teamed with a to-die-for sauce that's nice warm or cold.

The gigantic sausage is definitely one for sharing, between two of us we could barely finish it and kept slicing and snacking throughout the day.

My only gripe was the hard sausage skin which I often find takes the fun out of eating sometimes, as you get splashed with hot sausage contents.

TGI Pulled Pork (525g) - £5

Rating - 9/10

This was actually another one of my personal favourites. I've marked it down by two because I accidentally overcooked them, meaning they weren't as juicy and tender in some parts as I knew it could've been (my fault).

In the areas that it did, the meat completely fell apart and was really flavoursome. My mum and I added some chilli flakes to ours to give it that extra punch.

TGI Beef Short Ribs with Maple BBQ (780g) - £8.50

Rating - 6.5/10

I'm not a fan of maple flavoured anything, so needless to say this wasn't my favourite product.

My mum thoroughly enjoyed them however and they were filling enough to share a couple of packs with friends and family at your next bbq.

TGI Burnt Ends with Honey BBQ (550g) - £7.50

Rating - 10/10

This is going to be the belle of the barbecue. My mum didn't know what burnt ends were, but I'd tried them previously at a chain restaurant (which I didn't really enjoy).

I was pleasantly surprised with this one, especially from frozen. The flavour was the right amount of smoked without being overbearing and we both really enjoyed the delicious honey glaze.
