I tried Starbucks' new cherr-ifying Halloween drink and found the texture unsettling

Starbucks regularly come out with seasonal content and most of the time I'm very on board with this.

Not too long ago they released a Churro Frappuccino that I really enjoyed, so when I saw there was a new Halloween drink I was actually looking forward to it.

The Cherry & Scream Frappuccino came out today, so I obviously rushed to my nearest store to try it.

I'm there so often when a new drink comes out that they've come to expect my arrival.

This drink is made with sugar-free vanilla syrup (although you can ask for the sugar version) and a cream base.

This is poured over cherry sauce that is supposed to look like blood and have an interesting effect up the side of the cup.

It reminds me a lot of the strawberry Frappuccino they do that is quite similar, but here's the big difference.

It's made with a red 'whipped cream' topping. This is actually made with water and powder rather than cream as you might imagine.

It's red in colour and weirdly gelatinous I found. The texture reminded of congealed blood, I suppose that is what they were going for but I found it mildly off putting.

The chocolate finger sticking out of the drink was interesting (Jada Jones)

The 'cream' doesn't really melt, but it doesn't stand all that high either. I would probably ask for no cream if I were to get this again (although there's a very low chance I would).

There's also a finger poking out of the top. This is also dairy-free which I found quite nice as I avoid dairy.

Soy is present in both the cream and the finger so if you have a sensitivity it might be worth avoiding.

I found the finger tasted like cheap white chocolate, I didn't love how bloody it looked, although I suppose that is the whole point.

I found this drink to be texturally quite strange, there were chunks from the cherry sauce that I really didn't like.

The whipped topping was gooey which was definitely not something I'd be interested in and it was just quite unsettling overall.

I do think that is what you look for in a Halloween drink but I'm not sure if you should.
