I tried Saatva's luxury mattress and loved it — but this is what I'd buy in the Labor Day sales to get the look and feel for less

A tester sits on the edge of the Saatva Classic mattress to test its support.

The moment I saw the golden piping and sumptuous Euro Top of the Saatva Classic in person, I could see why it's widely considered one of the world's most luxurious mattresses.

And it's test performance lives up to its sleek appearance, with near perfect scores earning it the accolade of the best mattress of 2025. Thanks to a Labor Day sale, there's $400 off all Saatva mattresses over $1,000 at Saatva bringing the price of a queen size Classic down to $1,739 (was $2,139.)

Granted, it's pricey. But considering its handcrafted construction, sustainably sourced materials and outstanding comfort, it's actually a reasonably priced mattress. And having helped test it, I can say it's well worth the investment — but one I just don't have the funds to make.

While $400 off the Classic in the Labor Day mattress sales is the biggest discount you'll ever get on this world-class bed, there's a different product I'd buy to get a slice of the brand's hotel-luxury comfort for considerably less. Shopping the Saatva Labor Day sales with a smaller budget like me? Here's what I'd buy...

The Saatva sleep product I'd buy instead of its mattresses...

Saatva is renowned for its collection of top hybrid mattresses and high-quality memory foam beds, but the brand also crafts a whole host of products for your bedroom: pillows, sheets, lamps, nightstands — even scented candles and eye masks.

These sleep accessories, however, won't bring you a flavor of the renowned comfort and support of the best Saatva mattress. But one of Saatva's mattress toppers can.

Saatva has seven mattress toppers in total, and the two have earned a place in this year's best mattress toppers guide. The one I would buy is the Saatva High-Density Foam Topper.

In our Saatva High-Density Foam Mattress Topper review, our lead tester heaped praise on the bed topper's luxe comfort and plushness for side sleepers in particular.

While the review did point out the relatively thin height (it's just 1.5" thick), it still delivered plenty of pressure relief for side sleeping and may come as an advantage for people with tall mattresses or bunk beds.

3 reasons to buy a Saatva foam mattress topper

Lusting after a luxurious Saatva mattress but don't quite have the budget? Here's three reasons why I think a Saatva mattress topper is a worthy alternative...

1. They're made from the same materials as Saatva mattresses

The reason why Saatva constantly features in our best luxury mattress guide is largely due to the premium materials it uses. High-density foam, non-toxic flame barriers, organic cotton covers, and an antimicrobial treatment to keep allergens such as bacteria, mold, and mildew at bay.

And guess what? These materials all make an appearance in the High-Density Topper, bringing you the same quality for a lower price. These materials also appear in the Saatva Graphite Mattress Topper and received praise in our Saatva Graphite Mattress Topper review, too.

2. They're great value for money

Saatva is a premium mattress brand through and through, and their luxury designs are well worth their price tag (just read our glowing Saatva Classic mattress review) but that doesn't mean they're appropriate for everyone's budget.

However, their foam mattress toppers are always under $300 for a queen (despite never featuring in the monthly mattress topper sales), with the a queen High-Density Topper costing $245. This price is actually much cheaper than less luxurious memory foam mattress toppers from mid-range brands such as Casper and Brooklyn Bedding.

Like Saatva mattresses, Saatva bed toppers also come with a sleep trial and warranty. While we feel the one-year mattress topper warranty could be a little longer (the average is 3-5 years) we can't deny that its 180-night trials allows plenty more testing time than the standard 30 nights.

3. They prolong the life of your bed

Not only do Saatva's memory foam mattress toppers offer a cost much cheaper than their mattresses' price tags, but they also save you from buying a brand new mattress by adjusting the feel and comfort of your current one.

According to Saatva, the High-Density Foam Mattress Topper is the "most affordable option to prolong the life of an older mattress." Our testers also felt that it's a great choice for adding comfort to newer beds that are too firm or hard.

The high-density of the foam should make up for its lack of thickness, but we suggest going for the 3" Saatva Graphite Mattress Topper to add enhanced support to softer, older, or sagging mattresses.
