I tried Primark’s £7 sandals and I now want them in every colour

Budget retailer Primark is selling a new pair of sandals which look very similar to ones sold by a designer brand - but for around £563 cheaper - so I decided to visit Liverpool’s Primark store and make my own mind up on them.

Now the warmer weather is here and hopefully it’s here to stay, I thought what better time than to treat myself to some new sandals? Primark has become known for its designer dupes in recent years, often selling alternative versions to high-end products for much less.

The sandals have attracted a number of comments and likes since they were posted on TikTok by @primarktrending. The video has since racked up over 100k views on the platform.

The Primark product description read: “These slip-on mules feature a bold geometric toe strap with a subtle woven design for a classy and understated look while the cushioned sole offers some extra comfort to this flat style, making them perfect for slipping on when you don't want the hassle, discomfort, or bulkiness of any other shoe. We love them for poolside, summer errands, around the house, and even slipped into our bag for when our heels need to come off- when would you reach for yours?”

The sandals:

After heading to the shoe section in Primark, I found the sandals I was looking for and luckily they had my size in stock. They had the sandals in a tan brown, black, white and mint green.

The Primark sandals feature a similar design to Hermes’ Oran Sandals. The bargain retailer’s sandals are available in similar colours and feature the same ‘H’ shape at the front.

From the first look, I couldn't believe how much more expensive they looked than their £7 price tag. I thought the quality was amazing as they weren't flimsy like I was expecting them to be.

After seeing them in person, the Primark sandals are extremely similar to the Hermes version, even down to the same colour stitching. The only obvious difference is the ‘H’ isn't as apparent as it is on the designer version.

The verdict:

Two words - ‘in love’. The second I put the tan coloured sandals on, the comfort of the cushion pads in the sandals was amazing. For a simple slide on sandal, the comfort of them was 10/10.

When looking at the Hermes sandals online, they do not seem to have any cushioning at all. I think it would feel as if you were walking on the floor in them.

I just had my work clothes on when trying the Primark sandals on and even just with my wide leg trousers and blazer, it was such a lovely look. These sandals can be worn with so many different types of outfits such as workwear, on holiday or simply with a dress and denim jacket.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with the Primark sandals and I can't wait to go back and buy them in every other colour for summer. The Primark Geometric Weave Strap Mule Slide are priced at £7, while the Hermes’ version would set shoppers back £570. This means shoppers could save around £563 by opting for the Primark dupes.
