I tried out Mansfield’s new Tesco Extra café but one thing bothered me

Up the escalators and tucked away on the first floor of a Nottinghamshire Tesco store lies a modern, modest café.

The new-look cafe at Mansfield Jubilee Tesco Extra in Oaktree opened just weeks ago following a refurbishment over the summer, so naturally, we had to check it out.

With little signage pointing shoppers in the direction of the café, you’d be forgiven for not realising that it even existed.

Once inside though I was greeted by friendly staff and a range of tasty options to choose from.

Sadly, I was too late to fancy anything from the breakfast menu, as the salmon and scrambled egg bagel looked particularly appealing.

But alas, I went ahead and ordered myself a chorizo and chicken panini and a decaf latte.

While I enjoyed the latte to kick things off, it was not quite as aesthetically pleasing as the coffees had looked in the pictures.

The panini itself, however, was delicious - the meat was succulent and piping hot. It went down a treat.

The layout of the new café itself was also easy on the eye – the seats were modern and welcoming and underneath each of them were new plug sockets to charge your phone – the hallmark of any contemporary establishment.

Unfortunately, part of the experience was ruined by the incessant noise of shoppers on both floors.

This is an unavoidable nuisance given the location of the café, but it was irritating to hear while I was trying to chow down on my food.

So, if you do visit the Tesco Extra in Mansfield and feel peckish while you’re walking up and down the food aisles, I wouldn’t hesitate to pop upstairs and grab a bite to eat at the café – the grub gets top marks.
