I tried Marks and Spencer's £10 edible gold carat leaf fizz and it's 'perfect' for Christmas

There's nothing better than a glass of something special to really get you in the festive mood, which is why the new 'Marks & Sparkle' fizz couldn't have come at a better time.

Priced at £10, the ‘Marks & Sparkle’ fizz includes edible 22-carat gold leaf inside the bottle to create the ‘most Instagrammable bottle of bubbly.’ With citrussy notes of peach and pear, M&S describe the drink as ‘ideal as an aperitif’ or served with nibbles.

Shoppers have already been going wild for the £10 bubbly, so I thought I'd give it a try - someone's got to after all! I took a trip to my local M&S which was surprisingly well stocked with plenty of fizz (Croft Retail Park, for anyone that's wondering) and popped it in the fridge to chill.

I'm not particularly picky when it comes to bubbly, although I do find drinks like prosecco a little too fizzy. Don't get me wrong, a glass of fizz is a glass of fizz, but there are certainly nicer tasting ones than others.

So let's talk about the bottle first, because it looked absolutely beautiful. The Marks & Sparkle fizz glistened in the light and had a gorgeous gold tone to it which made it feel all the more luxurious.

It featured gold packaging and was corked which made it feel even better for a special occasion like Christmas day or New Years Eve. As I glanced in the bottle, I was actually quite surprised at the sheer amount of carat leaf flakes floating around - it looked magical.

I poured myself a chilled glass and took a big sip and felt immediately refreshed. There's just something so satisfying about that first sip of bubbly!

I definitely got a hint of fruity peach and pair which made the drink a lot more pleasurable to drink as opposed to a fizzy and dry prosecco. Described as 'vibrant and crisp' in the Ocado product description, I'd most certainly agree with that after a few sips.

In fact, the drink went down very well, and was very smooth to drink. The edible carat gold leaf was barely noticeable in terms of consistency which I was glad about, because I wasn't sure if I'd be keen on a scratchy glass of fizz.

Everything about this drink was magical, the definition of Christmas, so much so that I called my mum and demanded her to purchase some for when I visit over Christmas. I think £10 is a really good price for what you get, and would highly recommend this festive bubbly.

For those of you that aren't as keen on prosecco like me, believe me when I say that this isn't really like prosecco at more. It has a deeper flavour and is generally a lot smoother to drink. Shoppers can purchase the £10 Marks & Sparkle fizz here. Browse M&S via Ocado here.
